The mission of Project SYNCERE (Supporting Youth’s Needs with Core Engineering Research Experiments) is to prepare the minds of underrepresented students and create pathways for them to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Driven by a founding vision to create equity in engineering, Project SYNCERE has delivered hands-on STEM education since 2008. We prepare students from elementary through high school for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The Challenge & Solution

Across the United States—and especially in Chicago—students from communities in ‘STEM Deserts’ face limited access to high-quality STEM education, engineering programs, and career-connected learning experiences. Without early exposure, many never consider careers in engineering, technology, or innovation-driven industries.

Project SYNCERE addresses this gap by providing hands-on STEM learning, engineering design experiences, and real-world career exposure that build both technical skills and confidence. We don’t just introduce STEM—we create clear, supported pathways into college and careers in engineering and technology.

Early STEM Exposure

We introduce K–12 students to engineering and technology through hands-on ENpowered STEM workshops, in-school programs, and mobile STEM labs, making STEM engaging, accessible, and relevant.

BuilD

Skill Development

Through programs like E-CADEMY students build technical skills in robotics, coding, digital electronics, and engineering design, developing a strong foundation for STEM success.

SUSTAIN

College & Career Pathways

We provide ongoing career and college exposure and connections, ensuring students persist through STEM majors, internships, and entry into engineering careers.
